We work with closely with all our suppliers, striving to create a fairer and safer fashion industry. In 2013, the collapse of the Rana Plaza building in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which housed five garment factories, saw 1134 tragically lose their lives. The disaster was the among the worst industrial accidents on record and awoke the world to the poor labour conditions faced by workers in the fashion industry.
Thankfully, much has changed in the fashion industry since that fateful day, largely down to the global movement Fashion Revolution. Their mission is to unite people and organisations to work together towards radically changing the way our clothes are sourced, produced and consumed, so that our clothing is made in a safe, clean and fair way. They believe that collaborating across the whole value chain — from farmer to consumer — is the only way to transform the industry.
Monkee Genes supports Fashion Revolution, sharing the same values and aims. Our mantra – No Blood, No Sweat, No Tears – promises that throughout our supply chain, from the organic cotton pickers right through to our team in the UK, are paid a fair wage and work in a safe environment.
